Services › Shower Door Repair
Describe what it is doing and we will tell you over the phone whether it is a repair or a replacement.
Half the calls we get for a quote end with a repair instead of a new door. A door that swings open on its own is usually a hinge plate that loosened, not a failed panel. A puddle on the floor is usually a worn sweep or a missing jamb seal, not a leak in the pan. We check the cheap causes before we quote you glass.
What we fix most often in San Diego: pivot and hinge screws pulling out of tile or drywall, rollers worn flat on sliding doors, glass-to-wall seals that hardened and let water behind the frame, and towel bars that were used as handles until they cracked the glass. A cracked or chipped panel is the one thing we will not patch. Tempered glass that is nicked at the edge can let go without warning, so that panel gets replaced.
If your problem is on this list, it is a same-visit job the large majority of the time.
We re-seat the hinges, replace worn bushings, and reset the door so it rests a few degrees shut. If the hinge plate was screwed into drywall, we add proper backing behind the tile.
New sweeps, new jamb seals, and re-caulked seams. On older frameless doors the sweep is a wear item and usually the whole answer.
New nylon or ball-bearing rollers, straightened top rail, and a cleaned bottom track. If the bottom rail is pitted through, we replace the rail rather than just the wheels.
| Repair | Typical Range |
|---|---|
| Hinge reset or replacement (per hinge) | $95 - $220 |
| Sweep and seal replacement | $85 - $175 |
| Slider rollers and track service | $140 - $320 |
| Towel bar or handle replacement | $90 - $200 |
| Single panel replacement (tempered) | $350 - $900 |
Parts for discontinued brands can take a few days to source. We tell you up front if a part is going to hold the job.
We template, cut, and hang the glass ourselves. No subcontracted crew, no finger-pointing when a hinge line is off by an eighth of an inch.
You get the panel sizes, glass thickness, hardware finish, and total price in writing. Nothing on the invoice that was not in the quote.
Coastal humidity, hard water, and older tract-home framing all change what we specify. We pick glass and coatings that survive here.
Drop cloths down, old glass out in one piece, silicone lines wiped, and the debris leaves with us.
You describe it, we narrow it down. If it sounds like something you can fix with a screwdriver, we say so.
We carry the common sweeps, rollers, hinges, and sealants, so most repairs finish in a single visit.
We run the shower and watch the seams before we pack up, so you do not discover the leak tomorrow morning.
If the frame is corroded through or the glass is chipped at an edge, we tell you it is a replacement and why, instead of billing repeat repairs.
Cracked, chipped, etched, or fogged glass swapped for new tempered panels using your existing hardware.
Bypass and sliding glass doors that roll clean, seal at the jamb, and stop leaving a puddle.
Heavy 3/8 and 1/2 inch frameless glass, templated on site and installed with hardware that actually lines up.
